Organic Milk – The Growing Demand

Over the years, food has become saturated with many chemicals and preservatives to improve shelf life.  However quite a number of nutritionists point out the negative side effects towards health.  Over processed food has been linked to a variety of diseases such as cholesterol, obesity, cancer and heart diseases.

Because of this, heath and diet has become a popular topic and many men and women have adapted ways to keep their body fit by exercising and eating the right kind of food.

Farmers have recognized this trend and began to raise animals or grow crops organically without the use of much harmful chemicals.  This may be a slow and costly process however the health benefits and quality of food is well worth it.

Let’s take milk for example.  Organic milk may actually cost twice as much than ordinary dairy milk.  Despite the fact that it is more expensive, there are quite a number of people that still demand organic milk over other dairy milk products due to the health benefit it gives.  Plus the quality can’t be compared with ordinary milk.

How is organic milk made?

Organic milk is processed in such a way that cows are kept safe in a natural grazing ground and is only fed with organic fodder.  Temperature is another factor in processing organic milk.  Farmers use higher temperatures to process organic milk to keep it free from bacteria and prolong the shelf life.

What are the benefits of organic milk that people are raving about?

It all begins with the livestock.  Farmers do not feed or inject the cows with chemicals and hormones that is typically done in ordinary cow farms.  These cows are also fed with the freshest and organic grass free from pesticides or other harmful substances.

Because that these cows are not fed with any harmful substances, the milk that is extracted from them is pure and free from any unnatural substances.

Would you believe that the shelf life of organic milk lasts longer than ordinary dairy milk?  Organic milk lasts for a few days more than most dairy milk products.  Overall, organic milk has a month of shelf life.

Since the cows are not treated with antibiotics, hormones, and feed on organic grass, the milk they produce is devoid of harmful chemicals that are usually present, even if in trace amounts, in regular milk.

Recently, it has been reported by health researchers that organic milk contains omega 3 essential fatty acids, vitamin E and antioxidants which is very helpful in fighting infections.  It also prevents heart diseases and keep you healthy because of its vitamin A and beta carotene content.
